United Nations
World Humanitarian Day 2023
No  Matter

Role: Project Manager

2023 was the 20th anniversary of the bombing of the UN headquarters in Baghdad and the UN lost 22 colleagues. The tragedy profoundly changed the way in which humanitarians operate – from being respected, to being targeted – and led to the creation of World Humanitarian Day (WHD).

Today, 20 years on, the work of the UN has grown in scale and complexity. It aims to help almost 250 million people – 10 times more people than in 2003.

As efforts have grown, so to have the challenges faced. From rising geopolitical tensions and the blatant disregard of international humanitarian law, to deliberate attacks and disinformation campaigns, humanitarian work is more difficult and dangerous than ever.

Amid these trials the community has grown stronger, and we are closer to the women, men and children we serve. On WHD, we created a campaign that reaffirmed the UN's commitment to the values and humanitarian principles that guide their work and show that they stand shoulder to shoulder with the communities they serve, no matter who, no matter where and #NoMatterWhat.

I managed the whole project from conception to distribution, working with agency partners, the website team to build a space online to recognise the day, translators to translate all assets and web materials into 6 languages, humanitarian stakeholders to ensure messaging and targeting was in point and with the PR and social media team to ensure distribution reached the far corners of the earth.

Whole array of assets were distributed on this Trello board including survivor testimonials, social, advertising and email assets.
